Ultrasound / Doppler examination
A radiologist uses specialized equipment to look inside the human body, which often allows for a quick and accurate diagnosis of the disease.
FLOSMED offers you ultrasound in the field of:
– abdominal ultrasound (radiologist)
– Ultrasound of the salivary glands (radiologist)
– urological ultrasound of the abdominal cavity (urologist)
– Ultrasound of the prostate with biopsy (urologist)
– Ultrasound of the musculoskeletal system (orthopaedist)
– Ultrasound of children's hips (orthopedist)
– Ultrasound of the heart (echocardiogram, cardiologist)
– Ultrasound of the reproductive organs (gynecologist)
Ultrasound examination is currently one of the most important diagnostic means used by doctors around the world. The lack of any reported adverse effects, commonness and relatively low unit price of the examination make ultrasound the procedure of choice in the suspicion of many disease entities.
This is a type of ultrasound that allows you to assess the flow of blood through the vessels - both veins and arteries.
In the above study, the ultrasound is reflected by the blood flowing in the veins and arteries. This is possible thanks to the so-called The Doppler effect is named after its discoverer, the Austrian physicist Johann Christian Doppler. This phenomenon consists in changing the frequency of the received wave when the source or receiver is moving.
Any doctor can refer a patient to a Doppler ultrasound scan - both a family doctor, an internist, a pediatrician and any specialist, e.g. a phlebologist, cardiologist, general surgeon.
The Doppler examination does not require any special preparation from the patient. You do not need to go on an empty stomach, and you can take all medications as usual. For Doppler ultrasound, you only need to bring the results of previously performed tests with you.
- do not eat at least 4-5 hours before the planned examination
- clean, non-carbonated water can be drunk all the time, even just before the test
-avoid heavy, bloating foods the day before
- Do not chew gum or smoke before the examination
- come to the examination with a full bladder (about an hour before the examination you can drink approx. 0,5 l of water, if you have urinated earlier)
- constantly taken medicines should be taken at a fixed time, washed down with clean water
- two days before the planned examination, you can take 3 tablets of Espumisan / Esputicon 2x a day to reduce the amount of intestinal gas
- please bring the results of previous ultrasound/tomography/magnetic resonance imaging of the abdomen with you
In addition, Flosmed offers an ultrasound/Doppler examination:
- Ultrasound/Doppler of the neck
- Ultrasound/Doppler of the veins of the lower limbs
- Pelvic ultrasound
- Ultrasound of the lymph nodes
- salivary gland ultrasound
- Ultrasound + Doppler of the arteries of the lower limb
- Ultrasound / Doppler of the liver vessels (evaluation of the portal circulation)
- Ultrasound of the organs of the scrotum
Everything you want to know about Doppler ultrasound
Doppler ultrasound, also known as Doppler ultrasound, is an advanced form of ultrasound examination that allows for the assessment of blood flow in blood vessels and organs. This technique is invaluable in diagnosing a variety of conditions, from heart disease to disorders of blood flow in the kidneys and limbs.
How does Doppler ultrasound work?
The test uses the Doppler effect - a change in the frequency of sound waves reflected from moving objects, such as blood cells. This allows doctors to observe the speed and direction of blood flow, which is crucial in diagnosing and monitoring many health conditions.
Clinical applications
Cardiovascular diseases: Doppler ultrasound is irreplaceable in diagnosing thrombosis, arterial narrowing, heart failure or heart defects.
Pregnancy: It allows you to monitor blood flow in the placenta and umbilical cord, which is crucial for the health of the fetus - check ultrasound examinations during pregnancy.
Kidney diseases: The test helps assess blood flow in the kidneys, which is important when diagnosing renal artery stenosis or chronic kidney disease - also check ultrasound examination of the urinary system .
Doppler ultrasound is an invaluable diagnostic tool in modern medicine. Thanks to its use, doctors can more accurately diagnose and treat many serious diseases, which significantly contributes to improving health care and saving lives.
